Local Organizing Groups
There are several groups in the the Upper Arkansas Valley working to create social and environmental change. Below is a list of local groups and their interests. Ark Valley Women United
We are women in Colorado’s Upper Arkansas River Valley who are deeply concerned about our country’s social-political climate and the precarious state of our planet. We’ve come together to support one another and to find meaningful, effective ways to address the issues that matter to us.
Some of us participate in task groups, which we call “huddles”. Current Huddles: Protecting Our Democracy, Building Bridges of Understanding, Advocating for Women, Minority, & Immigrant Rights, Protecting Our Environment. We come together once a month as a large group for celebration, reflection, connection, learning, and renewal. Facebook group by invite only.

A group of folks in Leadville and Lake County organizing and acting for social justice. Organize 80461 Social Justice Leadville Gathering are held the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month from 6:30 - 8:30pm at St. George Church 200 W. 4th St. Leadville, CO 80461. These gatherings are dedicated to collectively learning about social justice issues in our community and society and hearing about what is going on locally. Everyone is invited.
Salida group following the steps of the national Women's March On framework focused on local elections. Facebook group by invite only.
Wild Connections involves folks in identifying and protecting the wildlands network in our area. Think BLM lands. They educate, document, and advocate. Website
The Chaffee County Democrats support local candidates as well as state and national campaigns. They host breakfast on the first Saturday of each month. Eat, drink, and help reorganize the Democratic party. Website
The League of Women Voters of Chaffee County is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, through education and advocacy. Website
